Founder’s message
Like many children growing up in the UK, my daughter was spending most of her day in an English-speaking school environment. Although Urdu was part of our home and heritage, she began to struggle with speaking it confidently. She could understand some words and phrases, but when it came to expressing herself, she often hesitated.
As a parent, I realised that this was not just about learning a language. It was about confidence, identity, family connection and giving her the ability to communicate with the people and culture she’s from.
We wanted to create a space where children could learn Urdu in a way that felt structured, supportive and enjoyable, so they could build confidence step by step, without feeling embarrassed or pressured.
That is how Urdu Squared began — first as a way to support our own child, and then as a way to help other families who were facing the same challenge.
